MESSAGE FROM THE CHAIR PERSON


I am happy to note that the Computer Science Department of Hindustan College of Arts & Science is organizing a State Level Technical Symposium “ C O S C I A N ’09 ” and also planning to bring out a Department Magazine.

In the challenging world with stiff competition evolving new technologies, innovation in emerging sciences and changing economy, one has to equip and update constantly in one’s chosen filed to survive and succeed.

Apart from achieving excellence in academics and sharpening intellectual potential it is important for students to develop leadership skills and capacity to innovate for social causes to make them resourceful and employable.

It is my fond hope that events of this nature should be more frequent and should be conducted with all seriousness and fervor so that it will provide an invaluable platform for student community to meet, exchange ideas and interact with experts to enrich their knowledge while developing new skills. I am sure that the participants will return immensely enriched and more confident.

I congratulate the organizers, faculty and the students of Computer Science Department of Hindustan College of Arts & Science for their initiative and enthusiasm in organizing this state level technical meet and wish that all success in their future endeavors.

It gives me immense pleasure that the Department of Computer Science is conducting a State Level Technical Symposium C O S C I A N ’09 and is bringing out the souvenir.

As our need for technology grows, so does our need for computer scientists. With the job market tightening, and the green pastures of US not appearing as lucrative as earlier, the low hanging fruit within your reach which can empower you is EDUCATION.

Improving professional skill sets and keeping abreast of the advances in technology is the need of the hour. For this I congratulate the HOD and the department for starting the value added courses for the first time, to increase the repertoire of the students.

I wish all the students and staff who has contributed, all success in future endeavors.

“C O S C I A N 2 0 0 9”. The department has been steadily growing into an impressive dimension, which strives to encourage Excellence in academic, co-curricular activities.

MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL


We are going through an extremely challenging phase in terms of the economy and markets, however this is not confined to just India as you are aware. What is going on at the global level is of historic proportions and has touched various sectors in the economy and markets. All companies have limited visibility right now and have recently seen deceleration in demand for their products. The global crisis has had a dramatic impact upon the industry at large. In this scenario we need to look at fresh initiatives in the field of education and create new opportunities in the IT sector in the future.

I extend my hearty congratulations to the Department of Computer Science, for organizing a state level symposium - “C O S C I A N ’09” which will give them an opportunity to interact with others and discuss the realities facing the global market.

You, my young students are probably stepping into the global world that is more challenging. Higher education has the responsibility of offering not just knowledge but value based knowledge so that our integrity will help us to hold our head high while we accomplish our task.

I believe that this symposium will provide a great learning and wonderful experience for all of you.

I am happy to note that the Department of Computer Science, has taken the initiative to organize its Annual State Level Technical Symposium – “ C O S C I A N ’09.”

I am positive that an endeavor like this would, develop a quest for knowledge, build relationships and inculcate a sense of team spirit and enhance interpersonal skills among organizers and participants.

I have personally observed this department to be success-driven, with an uncompromising determination to achieve excellence in everything they undertake.

The dedication, sincerity and hard work of staff and students of this department, and the intense efforts they have given their jobs; especially towards C O S C I A N ’09, is commendable.

I take at-most pleasure to state that the Computer Science Department Association is conducting an Inter- Collegiate Annual technical meet on 5th March 2009.The event will be inaugurated by

Mrs. SHOBHA DUGGIRALA, Chennai Center Head, Director Commercial Sector, Steria Technologies Chennai.

The symposium is mainly aimed at exploring the student’s knowledge and bringing out their creative talents in a new platform for the students to widen their career opportunities.

The “C O S C I A N” also plans to have other activities such as Debugging, quiz, paper presentation, web- designing and many more, exploring the creative talents of the students and creating programmes to project the people in a better environment.

I like to extend my hearty congratulations to all the members of the “C O S C I A N” for bringing out the magazine successfully.
